Lots to do and more to come…getting excited!

Finished! I’ve been working at finishing pieces these past few weeks as I get ready for the Alki Art Fair (July 18th-20th). I plan to get these photographed and several prints made to have for purchase along with the originals. Round one of fine art print trials starting this week 😃. Loving this Raven…16”x16” acrylic on 1.5” cradled wood.

Update: I will be displaying my work at the Alki Arts Fair in July as an emerging artist and could not be more excited. I’ve been painting almost non stop and wanted to share some works in progress I’m excited about as well as my new “easel wall” that I’ve been dreaming about for a long time that is now complete 😊. Lots of gratitude and enjoyment of the daily journey right now 💗

Spring has been so beautiful this year! Maybe because I am painting more and paying attention to all the changes? So many birds, bumblebees, and new flowers emerging. I wish I could paint faster 😂. I took some of my Spring inspired paintings and created a gallery wall in my kitchen nook. I’m also sharing some of my inspiration photos - tulips from my neighbor’s yard and lilacs blooming in my backyard (I looovvvve when the lilacs bloom…I’m out several times a day to sit under them and smell them 😊). I’m currently working on canvas and wood panel paintings…to show at an art fair this summer! Super excited to get out and show my work for the first time.

It’s been awhile! Happy Spring! I thought a quick about/update might be good place to begin at the start of this new season.

My quick intro painting story:
Hi, I’m Rachael. I was a very creative and imaginative child (as many of us are!). I really connected to painting, though, when I took my first acrylic painting class in college. From that point on, decorating each place I moved to always meant painting more paintings.

After I had my son, the paintings slowly increased. A few years back, I started selling art (paintings and macrame) and refinished furniture…this really took off and was so much fun! This was mainly what I shared here.

A quick update:
This past year, life changes spurred a rethinking/slowing down of the more physically demanding work and fostered a much deeper exploration and commitment to my (painting) art.

A new adventure has begun. My plan is to share that here. Not as a perfect package but as a creative adventure that I am excited about and learning so much on. I hope you will join me (or check in every once in a while). I’m sharing some of what I’m currently working on. It’s all the beautiful things I’m looking forward to as the light and warmth returns! Happy Spring!

This one went up for sale on the site today! I initially refinished it and kept it for myself I loved it so much. It was perfect for remotes, blankets, candles and was the beautiful centerpiece in my living room. After much contemplation (as we move into another year of homeschool) I knew I had to make the most of our space and find a cabinet for all our board games instead (makeover coming soon). This gorgeous dresser is in perfect condition! I went over it with a fine tooth comb and it’s as perfect and beautiful as can be. Hurts a bit to let it go but it deserves to go somewhere it can be admired and appreciated (not many spots for that in our little craftsman)! Check out my website for more details!

Spring inspiration I collected from my visit to Sherwin Williams today. I’m so excited to launch a new collection for Spring (within the next month) and share all I’ve been working on this winter!

In honor of Winter Solstice; I wanted to share one of the macrame wall hangings I’ve just completed (appropriately named Solstice). Hung via copper, created with 5mm cotton cord, this beauty is a nod to the moon phases + starlit skies and will be available for purchase at next collection launch :-).

SOLD Sanded and stripped to its original raw wood with a matte finishing wax + updated simple soft brass hardware…this one is for me! It’s now in my dining room holding my paint supplies. I’ve started painting more canvas’s to include in upcoming furniture collections (next one scheduled for end of June).
