Taupe Tall Dresser

Well, I officially have a new favorite paint color/hardware combination! I love this and will plan to do more in this combination. For this post, there are less pictures (apologies...I took video but have not had the chance to put it all together). But the story still needs to be told! See below for more details...
BEFORE

Solid wood, dovetail drawers...this is really a beautiful dresser that looks much worse then it actually is! One of the drawers needed repairing, it had come apart at the dovetail. Nothing broke, etc so really an easy fix. I used wood glue to repair and moved on to prepping this one for paint...
PREP
I started by removing the old hardware and gave the piece a good thorough sanding. Next, I updated the legs by removing the base "skirt" on the piece. The legs underneath mimicked the side details and were a structural part of the dresser so I made the decision to keep them. They were a little rough from being covered so I filled and smoothed with more sanding for a more finished look.
PRIME, PAINT, SEAL
After priming, I chose a new paint color that I haven't used before by Benjamin Moore called Shenandoah Taupe. I love this color! I wanted a Taupe but I wanted a neutral taupe (they can lean cool and almost lilac to my eyes)...so I found a warmer taupe leaning more to the mauve/greige side of the spectrum. I love it! After two coats of this, the dresser was ready to be sealed. I used a matte finishing wax to protect and complete the process.
HARDWARE AND LINER
I found the most beautiful hardware...they are these larger brushed brass knobs that work so well on this piece. I didn't want anything too small...I wanted simple but a bit more of a statement. The shape and finish on these are just perfect for this paint color and dresser.
For the lining, I chose an olive leaf print (the olive leaf is a symbol of peace so I really like that) and the neutral green plays off the taupe so well giving this piece a traditional yet modern look. Really simple yet beautiful at the same time. I love how this turned out!
